The aim of the Holland-on-Sea Residents Association (HRA) grant scheme is to promote an active and thriving community by improving the range of services and activities available.

Grants will be awarded where it can be shown by the applicant that part or all of the community will benefit by either improving or creating projects that improve safety, recreation, education, community pride, sports, art & culture, health including mental health benefits or improving the long-term well-being of residents of all ages.

Who can apply

Grants can be provided to a new or existing organisation, group or individual, the applicant must be a member of the HRA and be able to demonstrate that their service benefits local residents. Priority will be given to projects within Holland on Sea.

Grant Criteria

  1. Only 1 application from any group, individual or organisation will be considered in any financial year - unless exceptional circumstances can be clearly demonstrated.

  2. Grants will be reviewed at the monthly HRA Committee meetings.

  3. Mindful of the HRA responsibility in the spending and management of money raised from membership, events and the HRA magazine, the committee will only approve grants up to £2,500. Any requests higher than this amount will be taken to the open public meetings which are held 4 times a year.

  4. Irrespective of the amount requested, the HRA committee has the option to offer less with explanation of their reasons.

  5. Grants will only be awarded for new or ongoing projects - not retrospectively.

  6. Grants cannot be awarded to commercial enterprises which aim to generate profit for themselves or individuals. Additionally, grants cannot be awarded to support the cost of routine maintenance, repairs of equipment, salary or admin costs.

  1. The HRA committee may ask for evidence of the applicant’s efforts to raise their own funds from other sources.

  2. The HRA committee may ask applicants awarded a grant to submit a report detailing how the funds were used, including supporting evidence of expenditure. Should the Committee determine that the funding has been misused or deviated from the approved purpose without prior consent, they reserve the right to reclaim the full amount of the grant.

  3. Written approval of the HRA committee must be sought for a change in the use of the grant.
