The HRA is delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the Ipswich Road Volunteer Group, whose dedication and vision have transformed the Ipswich Road Paddock in Holland‑on‑Sea into a thriving wildlife haven. Led by Steve Collitt, the group has spent years nurturing the site into a biodiverse, tranquil space enjoyed by residents, visitors, and local wildlife alike.

What began as a community‑driven effort has grown into a model of environmental stewardship. Volunteers have created wildflower meadows, established new woodland areas, built bug hotels, and developed a beautifully reclaimed garden that continues to evolve with each passing season. Their work is supported by local councils and residents, with volunteers meeting weekly to maintain and enhance the paddock.

This year, their remarkable contribution has been formally recognised with a Pride of Tendring Award — a prestigious honour celebrating individuals and groups who make an exceptional difference within the district. The award highlights not only the group’s hard work but also the positive impact their efforts have had on the wider community.

The Ipswich Road Paddock now stands as a shining example of what can be achieved when local people come together with passion, commitment, and a shared love for their environment. The HRA is proud to support the group and looks forward to seeing the paddock continue to flourish.
