LUCKY WINNERS
It was a Christmas present that arrived just a little later than expected for two lucky residents of Holland on Sea.
In early December the Holland Residents’ Association joined forces with the local business sector to organise the very first Holland on Sea Christmas Late Night Shopping event and, as part of the festivities, there was a competition for young people to guess the cartoon characters which were scattered around the local shops. There were pictures of 29 different characters, each very famous and dressed in seasonal clothing, and it was William Vaughan of Fleetwood Avenue, Holland that won a £25 gift voucher to spend on whatever he fancied. William, aged 10, who attends Holland Haven Primary School and is a member of 1st Holland Scouts , said “It was great fun searching for all the cartoon characters”; he got the highest score with 27 correctly identified.
In order to keep the mums and dads involved in the competition there was a letter alongside each character which, when all put together and then unscrambled, spelt Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and it was down to the adult to complete this anagram.
Winner of this part of the competition was mum Karen Clewley of Primrose Road, Holland who received a magnum of Prosecco. Karen, who joined in the fun with her children and her parents whilst her husband was busy at work, said “It was a lovely evening enjoyed by the whole family – a really good community event”.
